Term 1 ends!

Hello guys! Finally, this day has come. Term 1 is going to end! It was an amazing term so far. We did loads of fun activities and today, we are going even explode our volcanoes that we made, during this week.

I noticed that in Year 6 you have to be really independent and we have to really take care of our Ipads and Chromebooks.

One of my most favourite activity was when we made the volcano. My group made a volcano called Klyuchevskaya Sopka. It is a volcano in Russia which has erupted more than 50 times.
First, we made the shape of the volcano with strips.
After that we started papier macheing the volcano.
When we finished all that, we painted it which turned out to be like this...

I really want to thank everyone who made this term really exciting and fun.

Creative writing الكتابة الإبداعية

Hello! Recently, we started a new unit on creative writing/ English. We started writing a letter to the book we read (The link to the post about the book).

We first, looked at how we could write the letter, and what type of language, we should write, like in formal, or informal. Then we started looking at letters which are formal and informal, and looked at the difference. We also thought about the layout.

When we finished all that, we started write a letter to a character in a book. I felt like I was an adult! I tried to make it sound like a professional letter, but I couldn't. It was quite hard!

Recently, we started to write a letter to the author of the book. The best one, might be sent to her! It's amazing! I hope my letter will be sent!

Swimming, Swimming, Swimming

Hi Guys! Last Sunday, I went to a school called St.Marys, and swam for my school BST! I swam 4 strokes, 200 medley relay, 50 free, 50 breast and 100 IM.

My breastroke was a quite good, but my other times were terrible. My 50m freestyle time was 36sec and my 100 IM time was 1:31min! I did the relay, with all the older kids, like in year 7. Each people, was given a stroke to do, but we changed it around, so we might, have got a faster time. I thought that I could do better but I couldn't. Next time, I will try my best and try to get lots of PB(personal best).

Camel Jockey or Poor (Lost Riders)

Hello Everybody! This week, we started reading this amazing book called the 'Lost Riders', by an author called Elizabeth Laird. This author writes many other book like 'A little piece of ground', 'Garbage king' etc.

Lost rider, is about a book where these two boys, called Rashid and Shari, who lives in Pakistan, and is forced to be taken to Dubai to become a Camel Jockey in the middle of a desert, where they have to take care of the camels, and go into camel races. In the middle of the trip, Rashid and Sharid, were separated and each was given a fake name. Rashid was called Yasser and Shari was called Farid. This book is about a life, being a camel jockey with Rashid's (Yasser's) point of view.

I noticed, that the life, being a camel jockey is a really hard life and it is really depressing. The house, where Rashid (Yasser) and Sharid (Farid) were living was really different to my house. They only had two rooms! Some adults, where the camel jockey spend their life, were really mean and terrifying.

This book has lots of exciting events and wants to make you read on more. I will recommend this book to Years 5-6.

Grama Slam

Hello Everyone! This week, I played a game called Grama Slam which was made by my teacher. The game is about grammar and the names of it.


They give you a question and you have to add your answer to 'tiny.cc/gramaslam' and then your answer. There is 9 levels and it gets harder and harder each question. At the end of Y6, we are going to have a Grammar test so we started learning about it. I will put the link at the bottom so try hard and get to the end!
(P.S There is a easter egg during the game!)

The Comedy of Errors

Hello everybody! I watched the Shakespeare's play! I found it very clever but also confusing. I also noticed that some of the words we learnt, was diffrent to what they said. I liked how they got diffrent people acting as a twin. I couldn't tell which one was which. Well, one reason was that they looked almost the same but the other reason, that couldn't tell which one was which, was that we had to sit near the back of the hall!





I learnt many things from this play about how the language is spoken and how it changed so much from the modern world. The actors danced on the stage after the show and I think loads of people liked that. The set was really clear and I knew quickly where the scene was set.

What makes a good game

Hi! In our class, we started to make amazing games. When I heard that we are going to do this, I had no idea what to do! We split our selfs into groups and thought of a game which could be really fun! In my group, we made a football game called the Super Xtreme soccer. The aim of the game was to score 10 goals as fast as you can. Our football/ soccer field(board), had defenders, ramps and tunnels.

   

After that, we went around the room, to see the other groups games and play it. Then I videoed our game in slo motion.

The quest to the awesome book

Hello Everybody! There is a book I want to share to everybody. The book is called 'Percy Jackson and the lightning thief''. I'm sure that this book is known to almost everybody, but I would like to explain this book to people who don't know this story.

This is an amazing book by an author called Rick Riordan. He writes other amazing series like 'The Heroes of Olympus', 'The Kane Chronicles' etc. (About these books: http://www.rickriordan.com/ ) 

This author writes loads of story about ancient god, in a modern set and modern languages. The book is set in the modern world with loads of ancient Greek gods. PJLT(Percy Jackson and the lightning thief), is the first book in the Percy Jackson series.

This book is about 12 years old boy called Percy Jackson. He went to a school called Yancy Academy, for troubled kid, in New York. Unknown to him, he was a half blood. His father was a god and his mother was a human. One day, his math teacher turned into some sort of demon, and asked him to give her the lightning bolt. The lightning bolt was from Zeus, god of the sky. That when, his mother and his best friend, Grover, took him to the half blood camp. On the way, his mother was taken away by a Minotaur while Grover and Percy, escaped in the half blood camp, where all the half blood’s, trained to fight. Percy, meets a new companion and sets of to a quest. Are they going to complete the quest, or fail!

This book is really exciting and has loads of tension. This book is suitable for 9/10 and up. This is a amazing fantasy book with loads of ancient gods. This book series, has 5 more stories! I hope you enjoy it! 

Shakespeare Errors

In week 3, we had to learn about Shakespeare. We started of by thinking who is Shakespeare and what he did.

Shakespeare is a famous poem/ play writer. He wrote all kind of poems and plays and different kind of genres like Romeo and Juliet(tragedies), Comedy of errors(comedy) etc.

                                    
In our class, we started looking at a play called comedy of errors. The story is about two of twins, getting mixed up by other people or twins. We acted out a funny scene and thought about how the real scene looks like. We first acted out the scene without knowing the script and just acted only knowing what the scene is about. Then, we looked at the script and tried to read it out. When I looked at Shakespeare's word, it was really weird. Instead of you are full, it said, you have no stomach.

Next week, we are going to watch the real play!

2nd Week at School

This week, we did something more fun! We had a boy, in our class, reading out a interesting news to us! We also started our math this week. It was amazing! We played loads if games on our chromebooks like a game called Reaction math.

They give you a question and you had to answer the right question as fast as you can. My highest score was 36.81 but my math teacher got 69! We also started a topic called creative writing. We had to watch 4 short animation and think of the next part of the story. We also did guided reading. We read a book called 'Because of Mr.Terupt'. I really recommend this book!

THE FIRST WEEK BACK AT SCHOOL

YEAH! I'm back at school and I'm having so much fun! We got our own Chromebook and even our own ipads!
   

We can also get so much freedom and we can relax on the sofa and the beanbag cushion! I learnt many things too like how to be safe on the internet and many more. In this week, we learnt digital citizenship, Japanese, Swimming and loads more! All my friends were really nice I was hanging out really good!
As soon I just sign the ipromise, the ipad is mine and I could take it home!
